ICF Development programme
EXPAND & EXTEND: ANOTHER VIEW OF WOMEN & CANOE SLALOM
Women participation at Worlds Canoe Slalom championships has grown from 27% to 34% between 2009 and 2013. As world competition level is the window display of the global activity, one has to swell the ranks of female paddlers, to grow up the base of the pyramid. The Canoe Slalom Development program has built a platform called “Expand & Extend, Women and Canoeing” (E&E). ICF partners with the concerned national federations & continental associations and existing NGOs operating at a local level to deliver a project addressing women’s development through canoeing activity.
On the path for 2014
On the whole, this first step gathered during 12 days:
17 ladies, 3 coaches male, 1 coach female, 1 video-maker female, 1 video-maker male.
3 continents were represented: Asia, Africa and Oceania. 4 countries: Hong-Kong, Nepal, New Zealand and Togo.
December 2014 should see the attempting of 3 E&E camps in Asia, Africa and Europe with the attending of world-class female athletes. For the second year of E&E, we are aiming bigger scale and obviously a larger number of ladies sharing and enjoying Canoe Slalom.

Registration TIP Slalom 2016
December, 2013, Balephi, Nepal, Asia: "Paving the way for the others"
For a week, women paddlers gathered in Balephi, East of Nepal, on the Balephi river, next to the world famous Sun-Khosi and Bote-Khosi rivers. Those ladies came from Nepal, Hong-Kong and New Zealand to build gates, to set them on the river, to learn Slalom rules and obviously training on what they built and achieved. 2 coaches supported by ICF and one Nepalese experienced paddler helped the girls to prepare the venue, to paddle and to enjoy the time on the river.
This achievement was made thanks to a good cooperation between an NGO, Himalayan Adventure Nepalese Girls, and the different canoe bodies, International Canoe Federation, Asian Canoe Confederation, Nepal Rafting and Canoeing Association.

Some Taiwaneses in French Brittany - Eurolympics 2013, France
For the very first time, 3 paddlers from Taiwan went to France for one month training and to participate at the Eurolympics 2013 in Brittany. The cold weather of Brittany was heaps balanced by the famous warm and friendly welcoming of the Brittany paddlers and leaders of Slalom. According to their words, Wen, Jason and Ming (english nicknames) had one of their greatest tilme ever. They were coached by Carole Bouzidi (K1W European Champion 2012) and were supported by the gang of Brittany Slalom paddlers.
Those guys made a maximum profit of their trip as they raced in K1, C1 and C2 thanks to the support given by canoe equipment suppliers.
They could now speak some usefull words of french as "j'ai froid", "galette complète", "cidre" and "merci beaucoup".
A huge thank for all the stakeholders who were involved in this BZH adventure.
