Jade Tierney is a national representative Cook Island canoe athlete. Jade lives and trains in Rarotonga in K1 and surfski partnering with her sister Liliana for K2. Jade started in canoe sprints in 2017 in the lagoon of Rarotonga. Jade grew up sailing Optimist and displays natural abilities in water sports. She is a dedicated athlete who enjoys training as much as competing. She has competed in NZ at Blue Lakes and NZ Nationals since 2018, and in Australia and Italy. She has consistently medaled at regional and national competitions in her age group. In 2019 Jade won the Cook Islands Junior Sportswoman of the Year. In 2020 she won National medals in canoe sprints, swimming and athletics. Her performance at 2020 Oceania Canoe Sprint Championships secured her a Tokyo Olympics Quota entry in K1 200m event. This young athlete has a promising future and has her eyes set firmly on the next Olympiad of Paris 2024.
