It is with much disappointment that the International Canoe Federation and local organisers (Swiss Canoe Federation and Huningue Canoe Club) announce the international ranking competition and African canoe slalom Olympic qualifers due to be held in Huningue, France, this weekend have been cancelled.

Local authorities spent the weekend monitoring developments with the coronavirus in the Huningue region, and decided following a meeting between local government and sporting officials on Monday that the event could not go ahead.

The two-day event was scheduled to take place on March 14 and 15. An announcement regarding the Olympic qualification pathway for African paddlers will be made soon.

An ICF spokesman said while it was disappointing that the event had to be cancelled, the health and safety of everyone involved in the competition had to be the top priority.
