Ukraine canoe sprint paddler Oleksandr Senkevych has been banned for four years after returning a positive test to a banned substance in 2019.

Senkevych was tested by the National Anti-Doping Agency of Ukraine (NADC Ukraine) during a competition on June 15 last year, his sample returning a positive reading to meldonium.

Senkevych will be banned for four years from October 22, 2019, until October 21, 2023. He competed in the 2019 ICF canoe sprint world championships, finishing seventh with his partner in the men’s K2 200 metres.

He was also sixth in the B final of the men’s K1 200 at the 2018 ICF canoe sprint world championships.
