Today, March 5, the Danish Canoe Federation turns 100.

The centenary birthday kicks off a season of celebration which will reach a finale at the ICF Canoe Sprint and Paracanoe World Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark in September this year.

“Although 100 years may seem like a lot, we believe that we are 100 years young”, says Tom Faurschou,
President of the Danish Canoe Federation.

“The knowledge and experience that has been built over the years has given us a strong foundation for success.”

The 2021 ICF Canoe Sprint and Paracanoe World Championships in Copenhagen will be a tribute to a
century of canoeing traditions in Denmark.

“We are proud of our 200+ clubs and their 25,000 members, who are paddling, having fun, and competing on the water, while we at the Danish Canoe Federation inspire with education, events, activities, and national team coaching," Faurschou said.

“We are working hard on the plans for an amazing 100-years anniversary celebration at the world
championships in Denmark in September 2021. We are working closely with all major sports events in Denmark in 2021, the Danish Government as well as the International Canoe Federation to secure a safe environment for both athletes and spectators.”

The Danish Canoe Federation is looking forward to celebrating our 100 years anniversary with the
international canoeing community at the ICF Canoe Sprint and Paracanoe World Championships in
Copenhagen, Denmark, on September 15-19.

The world championships will be staged at Lake Bagsværd, in collaboration with financial partners the City of Copenhagen, the City of Gladsaxe, the City of Lyngby-Taarbæk, the Capital Region, and Sport Event Denmark.
