Germany's Paul Ganse executed the perfect race to record a surprise win in the Stand Up Paddling Eurotour event in Belgium this month.

More than 60 paddlers competed in the shadow of the famous Citadel in the Namur SUP race, the second event on the Eurotour program. Ganse showed skill and poise to triumph in the 12 kilometre event.

The paddlers had to compete in three laps before they arrive at the famous Charlie's Capitainerie at Port de Jambes.

In the second lap German paddlers Normen Weber and Ganse fought together to get into the top ten group. After seven kilometres Weber used his talent of tactical skill and maneuvered himself into stable, streamlined fairway.

But Ganse immediately recognised the opportunity and followed. With this clever move, both were able to extend their lead.

In the hectic race to the finish, it was Ganse who held out the fast-finishing Latvian, Arvis Iļjins, with Weber in third place.
