Vaires-sur-Marne, the canoeing venue for the Paris 2024 Olympics, has been chosen as the host of the 2025 European Canoe Association Canoe Slalom European Championships.
The ECA Board of Directors have selected the Olympic venue as the stage for the Continental Championships at a meeting held in Belgrade, Serbia, following a successful bid from the French Canoe Federation.
France last staged the ECA Canoe Slalom European Championships in 2019 when Pau played host.
It was also agreed by the ECA Board of Directors that the 2025 ECA Junior and U23 Canoe Slalom European Championships will be held in Solkan, Slovenia.
Another key decision made at the meeting was to organize a ECA Extraordinary Congress in Antalya, Turkey, on November 9.
Budapest, Hungary has also been confirmed as the host of the 2025 ECA Ordinary Congress.
Other topics discussed by the ECA Board of Directors were the Continental Federation’s economic model and its transformation as well as its governance structure.
Vaires-sur-Marne will stage the Olympic canoeing events at Paris 2024, with slalom taking place from July 27 to August 5 followed by sprint from August 6 to 10.
It will then host paracanoe from September 6 to 8 during the Paralympics.
