The ICF wildwater canoeing world cups in Treignac, France, provided not only a chance for the world’s best paddlers to finish the 2021 season off in style, but also to get a feel for the course which will host next year’s ICF world championships.
Many of the athletes who competed and triumphed in the sprint classes at the ICF world championships in Slovakia in September turned out in Treignac. There were also strong fields in the classic events as well.
Italy’s Cecilia Panato backed up her gold medal form from Bratislava with three gold medals over the world cups weekend, winning the women’s canoe classic, sprint classic and canoe mass start.
French paddler Laura Fontaine took the silver in all three events.
