Frank Garner



Frank presently sits as Chair of the ICF Canoe Sprint Committee and executive  board member of the International Canoe Federation. He has been a member of the canoe sprint committee since 1995.

He has been the chief canoeing official for the 2000 Sydney, 2004 Athens, and 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. He was the technical delegate and chief official for the 2012 London and Rio 2016 Olympics and retains the positions for the 2020 Tokyo Games.

Frank was an Olympic canoe coach  for Canada for 1976 and 1980, and head coach at the 1984 Games where the team won six medals. As head national team coach his athletes have won over 50 international medals. He won a bronze medal as a canoe athlete in men’s C-2 1000m in 1962 at the Junior World Championships in Essen, Germany.

He has been selected to the Canadian Olympic and Sport Nova Scotia Hall of Fames.
