Planet Canoe Recast channel FAQ
The International Canoe Federation (ICF) is delighted to have a Planet Canoe channel on Recast, joining a rapidly growing list of rights holders on the pioneering Over-The-Top (OTT) sports platform. The ICF will be live-streaming events via Recast enabling fans to watch, promote, and develop the sport.
By simply signing up, sharing data, watching adverts, sharing content, inviting friends, or topping up your wallet directly, Planet Canoe users will be able to turn their interactions and viewership into Cast Credits. These can then be used to access live streams and exclusive content from our diverse range of disciplines on Recast.
The ICF has provided a unique service to the paddling community over several years by producing and broadcasting countless hours of live, subscription free, content on its YouTube channel. Funds generated through the Recast pay-per-view system will be reinvested, enabling the ICF to continue to offer this service as well as further develop and expand its broadcast coverage, show casing more paddling content to fans around the world.

HOW IT WORKS
Register on Recast as a fan if you want to watch content, or as publisher if you want to own a channel and earn revenue. Get setup in three easy steps;
- Sign up to Recast, and fill out your profile for more Cast Credits - sign up here
- Earn or purchase Cast Credits first, in order to buy content. You will not be able to access content unless you have enough Cast Credits, so we recommend building up your Cast Credits and buying content in advance for live coverage - watch how to earn, purchase, and track Cast Credits.
- Watch, live coverage will never be interupted by the platforms adverts so you won't miss anything.

How to sign up and start watching
Earn Cast Credits
- Signing up - you get 25 free Cast Credits just for signing up, please note these expire in 14 days so use them quickly.
- Sharing data - you will receive an additional 50 Cast Credits for completing your profile.
- Watch ads - if you complete your profile, you will earn 6 credits for every ad watched or 4 credits if not.
E.g. If a live stream cost 60 credits, you need to watch 10 adverts with a complete profile or 15 ads with an incomplete profile to earn enough credits to pay for that content. - Sharing content - earn a share of the content price, which is set individually and displayed, when you share content. You will receive a unique link which can be used by multiple people, and you will earn for each person that purchases the content from your link.
E.g. If a live stream cost 100 Cast Credits and has a 20% share, you will earn that percentage of the value minus the 15% for Recast and VAT from where you are located. - Inviting friends to join Recast - you earn 100 credits when you invite someone to join Recast and they purchase their first piece of content. You will receive a unique link to send to your friends.
- Paying - via Apple Pay, Google Pay, or debit/credit card.
Paying for content in Cast Credits
- Content is priced in Cast Credits based on numerous factors such as content type, production level, and duration.
- Each Cast Credit is worth 1p GBP, these can be bought or earned via interations.
- You must pay for content before you can access it and, once paid, the content will remain available on demand.
- Ads will never interrupt your viewing. So, if you wish to earn credits via ads, then you must consume them first.
- The easiest way to earn credits is to share content, which helps promote the sport too.

Earn revenue on Recast
You can earn revenue for your content in the same way as the ICF, which is ideal for athletes and paddlers to help fund their sport. For more information, and to request to set yourself up as a publisher, visit Recast's publishers section.
- Content - post and price your own content
- Sharing content - earn a share of the content price, which is set individually and displayed, when you share content.
E.g. If a live stream costs 100 credits and has a 20% share reward, you will earn that percentage of the value minus 15% for Recast and VAT from where you are located. - Collaborating - other publishers, like the ICF, can share a percentage of revenue from content you have collaborated on.

What is Recast?
Recast is a subscription-free sports and entertainment streaming platform launched in 2018.
It is free to join Recast and you will receive some free Cast Credits (Casts) when you do. There are also plenty of options to earn extra Cast Credits to watch the content - watching ads, sharing content, inviting friends to join or by purchasing them outright. Find out more on how Recast works.
How can I watch ICF events on Recast?
First, visit the platform and sign up to Recast. Joining recast is free, quick, and simple and once you have joined, follow Planet Canoe and, you are all set to start watching.
When you go on the Recast website, click on 'Join' in the top right corner of the front page. On the next page, click on the human emoji to create your profile on Recast. It is free of charge and all you need is your email address, mobile phone number, and a password. Sign up to Recast.
How do I create a profile on Recast?
Joining Recast is easy to do and free. Simply click ‘join’ and input some basic details, or use your Facebook, or Google login, and you will receive a verification code via email. You get 25 free Cast Credits just for signing up and a further 50 casts if you complete your data profile.
You have the option to watch ICF Events for free by earning Cast Credits through watching ads, sharing content, or inviting friends to join. You also have the option of having an ad free experience by buying Cast Credits - content on Recast will always be ad free. Sign up to Recast.
Do I have to pay now to watch events?
You must pay in Cast Credits which can be earned through watching ads, sharing content, inviting friends to join, or paying for them. These microtransactions help to generate revenue and supplement the cost of ICF events.
What is a Cast Credit?
Cast Credits are Recast’s currency. You will be rewarded with 25 Cast Credits when you sign up to the platform and a further 50 Cast Credits if you fill out your profile. You can earn further credits on the platform by watching ads, sharing content, or by inviting friends with your invitation code who then join Recast. Alternatively, you can avoid these interactions and purchase credits via Apple Pay, Google Pay, or debit/credit card. Watch how Cast Credits work.
Do credits expire?
The 25 credits for signing up expire in 14 days, so be sure to use them quickly, otherwise purchased and earned credits do not expire.
I bought Cast Credits, but they are not showing up in my wallet
It can take 30 seconds or so for the Cast Credits to appear in your wallet. If they are not showing, try logging out and back in, if they are still not there then email us at helpme@recast.tv.
How do the ads work?
On Recast, your viewing experience will never be interrupted by ads. You must earn enough Cast Credits to purchase the content before you have access to it.
E.g., If you wanted to earn enough Cast Credits via ads to purchase a live stream at 60 Cast Credits, you would need to watch 10 adverts with a complete profile or 15 ads with an incomplete profile to pay for that content.
How do I benefit from sharing content?
Each piece of content has an individually set percentage reward for sharing, which will be displayed. You earn that percentage of the content price when you share and someone purchases too. You will receive a unique link which can be used by multiple people, and you will earn for each person that purchases the content from your link. You can earn either Cast Credits as a fan or money, if you prefer, as a publisher.
E.g., If a live stream costs 100 credits and has a 20% share reward, the value for sharing would be 20 Cast Credits/20p minus 15% (3 credits) for the platform and VAT from where you are located, e.g. 20% of 17 credits would be 3.4 credits, amounting to 13.6 Cast Credits/13.6p.
I have watched all the ads; how do I get Cast Credits now?
If you've watched all the available ads then there are other options to get Cast Credits (Casts) - invite friends, share content, or purchase Casts outright. These options can all be accessed in your wallet.
Can I access content again after paying for it?
Once you have bought a piece of content, you can access it anytime and as many times as you wish on demand.
Can rewind live coverage?
Currently, you can rewind up to five minutes during the live coverage but Reecast are developing full DVR meaniing that you'll be able to rewind further in future.
The replay will be available on the platform after the live stream has ended and the video has finisheed processing, which depends on the lenngth of the the video but usually takes around 30 minutes. If you have paid for the live coverage then you will have access to the replay automatically.

Recast may be available in your country or territory but some content on Planet Canoe may not, due to geo-blocking caused by the International Canoe Federations broadcast partner agreements.
Is Recast available as an app?
You can find Recast in the Google Play store and the Apple App store. We are a progressive web app, so you can access us from any device, and you can add us to your home screen like any other app.
On the Recast android app, you can purchase and watch content, while our IOS and Google TV apps can be used to watch live and on-demand content that you have purchased in advance. Download the Android app or IOS app.
How to watch Recast on TV?
You can watch Recast content on your TV either by connecting your laptop via a cable to your TV, using Google Chromecast or Apple Airplay, or through the Recast Google TV app.
Is Recast available in languages other than English?
Recast is currently available in English, Italian, Spanish (both Spanish and South American Spanish), Portuguese (Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese), and Arabic. You can change the language in the settings tab of your Recast profile, by clicking on the ‘cog’ icon.
Why does the ICF use Recast?
Funds generated through Recast’s pay-per-view system allow the ICF to continue producing additional coverage. The ICF is committed to reinvesting all the revenue generated via this system, to help continue to offer this service as well as further develop and expand its broadcast coverage, show casing more paddling content to fans around the world.

How does the ICF earn on Recast?
Every time you purchase content on the Planet Canoe Recast channel with Cast Credits or share content, which then gets purchased, the ICF earns revenue. The more content you consume and share the more we can reinvest into content creation and showcase our sport live.
Can I earn on Recast?
Yes, you can set yourself up as a publisher and earn for your content in the same way as the ICF, which is ideal for athletes and paddlers to help fund their sport.
Recast also rewards sharing content, which helps promote the sport, with Cast Credits, or revenue for publishers if they prefer.
If you wish to collaborate with the ICF, and share your content, then revenue will be shared with you for any content posted on the Planet Canoe Recast channel.

How do others benefit from Recast?
The ICF will reinvest revenue into content creation to further strengthen our support to organisers, national federations, and athletes, plus they too can earn from their own channels. The better the content performs the more the sport will benefit, so it is best to promote and share content as much as possible.
Can I still watch on YouTube?
The Planet Canoe YouTube channel will continue to publish the full coverage one month after the event. In addition, the ICF has invested into additional content creatiion such as race clips and highlights, that will be published at the end of each day, and offer fans a wider range of content formats to choose which they wish to consume. The live coverage will be exclusively on the Planet Canoe Recast channel. Watch our content on YouTube.
