Jean-Michel Prono
About
Jean-Michel Prono was elected as Chair of the International Canoe Federation Canoe Slalom Committee at the 2004 ICF Congress in Stockholm, Sweden.
Mr Prono served as the sport advisor for the French Sports Ministry from 1976 to 1980 before becoming a regional canoe technical advisor for the French Canoe Association.
He then moved into coaching where he worked with the Spanish Canoe Slalom team from 1989 to 1992 and the French women’s Canoe Slalom team from 1998 to 2000 where his athletes achieved multiple Olympic medals and world titles.
Since being elected as chair of the ICF Canoe Slalom Committee, Mr Prono had been committed to raising and consolidating the standard of the organization, define and process an accurate judging process, and to introduce better service to athletes and teams.

1993-2000 – Coach of the French women’s Canoe Slalom team
2001-2002 – Sport Director of the Organizing Committee for the 2022 Canoe Slalom World Championships in Bourg St Maurice, France
2004 – Technical Operation Manager for Canoe Slalom at the Athens 2004 Olympics
2004-present – Chair of the ICF Canoe Slalom Committee
Sports practised
Mr Prono was a former French national slalom athlete. He competed at both national and international level and was a member of the French Canoe Slalom team from 1974 to 1975, specialising in K1.
