The Executive Committee of the International Canoe Federation has wrapped up a two-day meeting in the Olympic capital of Lausanne as the governing body celebrates its centenary year.
The committee met at the Olympic House and Olympic Museum, and looked at preparations for the Paris Games, including the qualification process, and also the ICF’s 2024 television strategy and bidding process for future major ICF events.
IOC President Thomas Bach welcomed the committee and discussed the power of sport, Olympic opportunities, digitalisation and future challenges. Executive committee members and Olympians Luciano Buonfiglio and John Edwards took the opportunity to sign the Olympians Wall.
ICF President Thomas Konietzko spoke of the rich history of canoeing, the diversity of the sport over ten disciplines, and of the 100 year history of the Federation.
The executive committee also discussed dragonboat racing. The meeting concluded with a strong commitment to advancing canoeing, ensuring inclusivity, innovation, and excellence across the sport.
