With over two decades of experience in sports management and communications, Balint Vekassy brings extensive expertise and a lifelong dedication to the leadership team.
Currently serving as the Global Director of Sport & Budapest Headquarters, Balint oversees a wide range of strategic initiatives aimed at advancing the sport on a global scale.
A former member of the Hungarian National Team, Balint began his competitive career at age eight and graduated as a certified Canoe Sprint coach from the University of Physical Education in 1996. After gaining professional experience in sectors outside of sports, he returned to the industry in 2005 as an Event Manager for the Hungarian Canoe Federation. Since then, he has held diverse leadership roles spanning marketing, communications, and general management.
His deep institutional knowledge covers all ten International Canoe Federation (ICF) disciplines, having attended hundreds of World Cups and World Championships in various professional capacities. Beyond the elite competitive arena, Balint is a passionate advocate for paddling as a global leisure activity. An avid river explorer, he is committed to elevating the sport’s international profile and ensuring that the experience of paddling on the world's waterways is accessible to everyone.
