The International Canoe Federation is pleased to confirm the Olympic Games LA28 competition schedule, offering the most comprehensive look yet into when Canoe Slalom and Canoe Sprint will take place.

Canoe Slalom action will kickstart the proceedings on Day 0 (July 14), the same day as the Olympic Opening Ceremony, with the women’s and men’s kayak single finals on Days 1 (July 15) and 2 (July 16).

The next set of medals will be awarded in the women’s and men’s canoe single finals, scheduled for Days 4 (July 18) and 5 (July 19).

On Day 8 (July 22), fans will get to see the excitement of kayak cross once again on the Olympic stage from quarterfinal to final.

All attention will be on Canoe Sprint after a two-day break on Day 11 (July 25), with the finals taking place on Days 12, 14, and 15.

On Day 12 (July 26), athletes will have a chance to win medals in the men’s and women’s kayak double 500m and the men’s canoe single 1000m.

On Day 14 (July 28), the women’s kayak single 500m final will take place along with the women’s canoe double 500m and the men’s K1 1000m.

Four medal races take place on Day 15 (July 29), with paddlers battling it out to stand on the podium in the women’s C1 200m, men’s C2 500m, and the men’s and women’s kayak four 500m.

Canoe Slalom will take place at the Whitewater Center in the OKC Zone, a world-class venue which will host the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships and the ICF Congress next year.

Canoe Sprint will be held at the Marine Stadium in the Long Beach Zone, with a total of 16 events confirmed on the programme across both disciplines.

A total of 236 athletes will vie for 10 medal events in Canoe Sprint, while 82 paddlers will compete for six sets of medals in Canoe Slalom.

As at Paris 2024, LA28 will see gender equality achieved once again as paddle sport continues its strong presence in the Olympic Movement.

Canoe Slalom finals schedule

  • Days 1 and 2 – July 15 and 16: Women’s and men’s K1
  • Days 4 and 5 – July 18 and 19: Women’s and men’s C1
  • Day 8 – July 22: Women’s and men’s kayak cross

Canoe Sprint finals schedule

  • Day 12 – July 26: Women’s and men’s K2 500m and men’s C1 1000m
  • Day 14 – July 28: Women’s K1 500m, women’s C2 500m, and men’s K1 1000m
  • Day 15 – July 29: Women’s C1 200m, men’s C2 500m, and women’s and men’s K4 500m
