Coaching Course in Togo
The Fédération Togolaise de Canoë, with support from Olympic Solidarity, the ICF, CAC, and the Togo NOC, hosted an ICF Level 1 Canoe Sprint Coaching Course in Aného from April 10-17, 2025. The training, led by an international expert, certified 28 new coaches from Togo, Benin, and Nigeria. This milestone strengthens canoe sprint development in West Africa and builds a solid foundation for future growth.
African Reference Race
During the first ICF Canoe Slalom World Cup of the season in La Seu d’Urgell, Spain, an African Reference Race was held in early June. This strategic initiative supported qualification pathways and benchmarking for African nations. It was a fantastic showcase participation from Senegal’s Youssouf Wally Ndiaye, Terence Saramandif of Mauritius, Donovan Wewege of South Africa and Andy Barat of Comoros.
CAC Extraordinary Assembly
The Confederation of African Canoeing (CAC) held an Extraordinary Assembly on 28 June 2025. The main focus of the meeting was to amend the CAC statutes to enhance governance and operational efficiency. The proposed amendments were discussed and approved by the majority. The Assembly also addressed the issue of inactive federations, offering them a final opportunity to explain their situation and re-engage with the CAC. The next General Assembly is scheduled to take place in Angola, with an emphasis on increasing participation and promoting the development of canoeing across the continent.
