The third quarter of 2025 has been a crucial and focused period for the ICF SUP Committee, marked by intensive planning, coordination, and strategic discussions aimed at ensuring the successful delivery of the 2025 ICF SUP World Championships and setting the foundation for future development of the sport.

Key Committee meeting

A key Committee meeting was held during this period. On August 11, the Committee convened to discuss a range of important topics:

  • Continued development of the One-Design Project, with the goal of improving accessibility and fairness in SUP competition.
  • Preparations for the 2025 ICF SUP World Championships in Abu Dhabi, with detailed updates on logistics, technical readiness, and coordination with local partners.
  • Discussion on future events and strategic planning for the 2026 season.
  • Planning for an ICF Coaching Course to be held in Abu Dhabi immediately prior to the World Championships, aimed at supporting the development of coaching capacity across the SUP community.

World Championships preparations

With the 2025 ICF SUP World Championships approaching, the Committee and the Host Organising Team have been actively engaged in extensive planning. This quarter saw multiple coordination meetings focused on key operational and logistical areas, including:

  • Athlete accommodation and transportation logistics
  • Race course design and technical setup
  • Event infrastructure, venue layout, and equipment management
  • Collaboration with local authorities and service providers

The Committee has worked closely with the organising team to ensure that all aspects of the event meet international standards and provide an exceptional experience for athletes, officials, and spectators.

Planning for 2026

In parallel with preparations for the 2025 World Championships, the Committee has also begun work on the 2026 competition calendar. Discussions are ongoing with potential hosts and partners to shape a strong line-up of World Ranking Races, World Cups, and development-focused initiatives for the upcoming season. The ICF SUP Committee remains dedicated to strengthening the global SUP community by fostering high-quality competition, supporting coach and athlete development, and building long-term pathways for the growth of the sport.
