Jean-Michel Prono
About
Jean-Michel was a former French national slalom athlete. He competed at both national and international level and was a member of the French national slalom team from 1974 to 1975, specialising in K1 men.
He served as the sport adviser for the French Sport Ministry from 1976 to 1980. From 1981 to 1983 he was the regional canoe technical adviser for the French Canoe Association.
After he retired from competitions as an athlete, Jean-Michel moved into coaching. He coached the French junior national slalom team from 1984 to 1988, and was then responsible for the Spanish slalom racing Olympic team from 1989 to 1992.
He coached the French women’s Olympic slalom team from 1993 to 2000. During his tenure as a coach, his athletes achieved multiple Olympic medals and World Championship titles.
Since 2000, Mr. Prono served as the national canoe technical adviser for FFCK , Sport director of the organizing committee for the 2002 Canoe Slalom world championships in Bourg St Maurice (FRA) - 2001 to 2002. served as a member of the ICF Slalom racing working group "Beijing and beyond" from 2003 to present. He has also served as the technical operation manager for Canoe Slalom event at Athen. Lastly, Mr. Prono was elected as Chairman of Slalom Racing Committee back in 2004 ICF Congress in Stockholm. Since then, Mr. Prono has been committed to raising and consolidating the standard of organisation, define and process an accurate and consistent judging process, and to introduce better service to athletes and teams.
