The International Canoe Federation’s development programme has received a major boost with the signing of German transport company Prowave as a logistics partner.

Prowave will help solve many of the logistical nightmares that come with transporting bulky equipment to canoe venues around the world, where the great majority of the ICF’s canoe development programs take place.

Prowave brings to the ICF 15 years of experience, and strives to support canoe athletes on their path to international success. It transports canoes and equipment around the world, using purpose-built containers to guarantee safe transportation.

They also provide vehicle rental and boat and equipment storage facilities in Germany and selected locations around the globe.

ICF marketing manager, Catherine Wieser, said it’s a good development for canoeing.

“Every year we look to introduce canoeing to new athletes all around the world, and often the biggest problem is getting the canoes and other equipment to the participants,” Ms Wieser said.

“Prowave will make this task much easier. We are impressed with the services they offer, and feel certain this partnership will be a major boost for our sport.

“Importantly, this agreement will enable us to take canoeing to corners of the globe which have proven difficult in the past. Prowave will help us get valuable equipment to coaching sites safely and hassle-free.”

Prowave General Manager Stefan Bretthauer said his company is looking forward to working the International Canoe Federation.

“For Prowave, working with the ICF gives us a chance to showcase what we do best, which is take the stress and worry out of transporting expensive and important equipment around the world,” Mr Bretthauer said.

“We are passionate about canoeing, and are looking forward to playing our part in the growth of the sport around the world.”
