The second weekend of the ECA European Open Canoe Slalom Cup for 2019 saw double wins for host nation Slovenia and for Italy on the famous Ljubljana – Tacen course in Slovenia.

The first final of the day was in the men’s C1 event, where Anže Berčič (SLO) produced the best time. He was 77 hundred of a second faster than his compatriot Benjamin Savšek, the 2015 European and 2017 World Champion. Italy's Raffaello Ivaldi finished the race in third place.

Young Italian canoeist Marta Bertoncelli returned the best run in the women’s C1 event. Viktoriia Dobrotvorska from Ukraine finished 1.5 seconds slower to take the silver, while Slovenian paddler Nina Bizjak picked up the bronze medal.

Italy's Giovanni de Gennaro navigated through the course the smoothest in the men’s kayak final. Slovenian favourite for the win, Peter Kauzer, who was the fastest in Saturday’s heats, did not find the recipe to beat his time and had to settle for second, while Switzerland's Gelindo Chiarello was third.

In the last final of the day Urša Kragelj and Eva Terčelj brought a quinella for the Slovenian team. Kragelj set the fastest time of all finalists in the women’s K1. Despite two penalty seconds she was still one second faster than Eva Terčelj, with Italy's Stefanie Horn third.
