Spain and Germany are the gold medallists of the senior men’s and women’s ECA Canoe Polo European Championships tournament.

Germany beat France 2 – 1 in the senior women’s gold medal match, while Switzerland beat Great Britain 4-1 in the battle for bronze.

Italy beat Netherlands 4 1 in a 5th place match, Denmark finished the tournament in seventh place, Czech Republic was eighth, Sweden ninth, Spain tenth, Poland eleventh and Russia twelfth in women’s part of the tournament.

In men’s final reigning World Games champions, Germany, lost against the team of Spain 4 2. The Spanish team lead in the first half, going into the break with 2 1 lead and kept the score safe until the last minutes of the match.

The scored for the last time securing the 4 2 result less than a minute before the end of the game. Victor Gonzalez Azpiazu was the last scorer of the tournament.

In a bronze medal match 2016 World Champions Italy beat Switzerland 2 1. Netherlands finished the tournament in fifth place, Denmark was sixth, Portugal seventh, Great Britain eighth, France ninth, Belgium tenth, Poland 11th, Sweden 12th, Russia 13th, Hungary 14th, Austria 15th, Ireland 16th and Ukraine 17th.

The 2019 ECA Canoe Polo European Championships will be organised in Coimbra, the medieval capital of Portugal.
