The hosts stood atop the podium in all four categories as the Canoe Slalom events concluded at the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games Thailand 2025.

Held at the Royal Thai Navy Rowing and Canoeing Training Center in Rayong, Thai paddlers dominated in the men’s and women’s canoe and kayak single events.

In the men’s K1, Piyanath Koetsuk stormed to the title ahead of Krisna Septiana of Indonesia.

Koetsuk, who has been part of the International Canoe Federation development camp, crossed the line in 82.25, with silver going to Septiana in 85.70 and Mohamad Nazrin Najib of Malaysia taking bronze in 85.96.

It was a special moment for the 23-year-old Najib, who was part of the Malaysian team that took bronze in the 2025 Asian Canoe Polo Championships in September.

Jaruwan Niamthong was a cut above the rest in the women’s K1 final, winning by almost 15 seconds.

She clocked 85.52 to get the better of silver medallist Kadek Sintha of Indonesia as Aung Po Po of Myanmar finished third to claim bronze.

Asian Games bronze medallist from 2018, Atcharaporn Duanglawa of Thailand, showed her class in the women’s C1 final at the SEA Games.

Her timing of 96.06 was enough to beat Putu Santhi of Indonesia, who bagged silver in 101.89.

Azlyn Farhana Binti Muhammad Azmi Tan, another Malaysian Canoe Polo paddler who starred at the Asian Championships along with Najib, was the bronze medallist, registering 117.17.

Chaidet Yutthakan, who has been a regular at ICF World Cups and World Championships, cruised to the men’s C1 title in 84.52.

The rest of the field was not able to match that, as Sutanto Ade Yoan of Indonesia finished second in 100.09.

The final podium spot in the men’s C1 went to Malaysian Zikri Bin Mohd Nor Arif, with a timing of 101.72.
