After suffering the heartbreak of missing out on a medal at last year’s Olympic Games, Germany’s Funk was back to seal the women’s kayak crown, while fellow Tokyo 2020 gold medallist Prskavec of Czechia’s etched his name in history with a record seventh European title.

There were firsts for Andorra’s Monica Doria and Spain’s Miquel Trave, winning their maiden European crowns with canoe golds, while Czechia won two of the four team titles.

Back after making its Olympic debut in Paris, kayak cross also made a big splash with Czech Jakub Krejci and France’s Camille Prigent emerging victorious.
