Impairment Details
At age 12 she was attacked by a bear at a zoo in Timisoara, Romania. She was leaning on the railings of the bear's enclosure when the animal grabbed her right leg, resulting in the limb being amputated below the knee. (myinfo.rio2016.com, 09 Sep 2016)

She did not take part in any sport from 2004 to 2009 because she did not have the support of her then husband.
