Four ICF stand up paddling world champions will be among the quality field to take part in the prestigious Carolina Cup SUP event at Wrightsville Beach this weekend.
The 11th annual Carolina Cup will run for five days, with races for all levels of athletes. A 13-mile race and a technical event will feature some of the world’s best stand up paddlers, including ICF world champions Connor Baxter, Michael Booth, Noic Garioud and Ty Judson.
This year’s edition of the Carolina Cup will be the first being run in collaboration with the ICF. In 2015 the Carolina Cup became the largest and most competitive SUP race in the world. In 2016 the Carolina Cup was the largest race on the East Coast of the USA, when more than 900 paddlers took part.
Saturday’s Graveyard 13-mile elite race is a beach start and finish and is an ocean and flatwater race. The technical race on Sunday is an open division race which will allow unseeded athletes to take on the best on the world.
