Preparations are in full swing with less than a month to go for the Opening Ceremony of The World Games 2025 in Chengdu. 

For the first time, there will be three canoeing disciplines at the multi-sport event.  

Here is a list of all the notable facts and figures from the competition in China. 

6 - Chengdu will be Canoe Polo's sixth appearance as a medal event at The World Games.   

144- Number of Dragon Boat athletes who will compete in Chengdu. 

2022 - The year when Canoe Marathon became an official medal event at The World Games in Birmingham, Alabama, United States. The discipline made an invitational appearance in Cali, Colombia, in 2013. 

128 - Number of Canoe Polo athletes in action in the capital city of Sichuan province. 

6 - Dragon Boat athletes will compete in six events in Chengdu - mixed 10-seater 200m, mixed 10-seater 500m, mixed 10-seater 2000m, open eight-seater 200m, open eight-seater 500m, and open eight-seater 2000m. Every crew must compete in all six events. 

2 - Number of events for men and women in Canoe Marathon - K1 long distance and K1 short distance.  

2005 - The year when Canoe Polo made its debut at The World Games in Duisburg, Germany. 

40 - Number of athletes who will battle it out in Canoe Marathon in Chengdu.  

1 - The 2025 edition will be the first time Dragon Boat will be a medal event at The World Games. The discipline made invitational appearances in 2005 in Duisburg, Germany and the 2009 edition in Kaohsiung, Chinese Taipei. 

4 - With four medals, including three golds, Canoe Polo star Tonie Lenz of Germany is the most successful canoe athlete at The World Games.
