Legendary German sprint canoeist Ronald Rauhe has become the latest paddler to author a book.
Rauhe’s book is called ‘In Einem Boot’ or ‘In A Boat’, where the five-time Olympic medallist talks about why performance sports are important for society.
“We need to think about how to move ‘our’ performance sports forward - from school sports to promoting top athletes,” the Tokyo 2020 kayak four 500m champion wrote on Instagram, promoting his book.
“In my book, I bring not only demands, but also constructive suggestions to move sports-Germany and, in the end, our society forward.”
Co-authored by Andreas Matlé and published by Edel Sports, the book “describes his unique path as a canoeist, from the first paddles to the second Olympic gold in Tokyo - a path marked by successes and setbacks”.
“Rough basic concern is the encouragement and the acknowledgement of achievement - in a society where mediocrity has become the norm,” was how Edel Sports described the book.

The sixteen-time world champion has joined New Zealand great Lisa Carrington, who launched a children’s picture book in August after a successful Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Rauhe is regarded as one of the best paddlers of Germany, with his career lasting almost three decades.
The six-time Olympian and multiple European gold medallist was at Paris 2024 as a TV expert for ZDF or Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen and is a member of the European Olympic Committees Athletes’ Commission.
