Hungary have named a 48-strong squad, featuring a mix of Olympic champions, world medallists and emerging talent, for the upcoming International Canoe Federation Canoe Sprint World Cup in Szeged.
Running from May 8 to 10, the competition marks the first International Canoe Federation World Cup that will count towards the Olympic Ranking for Los Angeles 2028 qualification.
Reigning world champion and Tokyo 2020 Olympic gold medallist Balint Kopasz headlines the team alongside world gold medallist and three-time European champion Zsoka Csikos.
Canoe double stars Agnes Kiss and Bianka Nagy, who starred on the World Cup circuit last season, have also been selected and will look to pick up from where they left off, while Anna Lucs - part of Hungary’s gold medal-winning kayak four crew at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 - returns to competition on home waters.

Anna Meszaros, Ivan Mircse, Levente Szabo, Adam Said Kaed, Petra Paragi, Zsombor Marenec-Dozsa, and Milan Gyanyi are all confirmed as senior debutants, preparing to make their first appearance for their nation in Szeged.
Hungary will field entries across all canoe and kayak disciplines, with athletes competing in singles, doubles, and fours over 200m, 500m, 1000m, and 5000m distances.
Among the standout selections, Kopasz and Adam Varga will race in the men’s K1 1000m, while Kolos Csizmadia and Gergely Balogh have been selected for the men’s K2 200m sprint.

In the women’s kayak events, Lucz and Reka Kisko will compete in the women’s K1 200m, while the former is also expected to feature in Hungary’s dominant women’s K4 500m crew.
In canoe, world champion Balazs Adolf will line up in both the C1 1000m and C1 5000m, underlining Hungary’s strength in endurance events.
Daniel Fejes adds further depth to the squad, with entries in the men’s C1 1000m and men’s C2 500m, competing alongside Jonatan Daniel Hajdu.
Csorba has also been included in the squad and is set for a busy programme, competing in the women’s C1 500m, women’s C1 5000m, and women’s C4 500m.
