Excitement is building in India as it prepares to host its first major international canoe sprint event.

The Indian Kayaking and Canoeing Association is hosting the Open International Canoe Sprint Competition in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, from March 23 to 25th.

The IKCA is offering to take care of all major costs for international coaches and athletes, including airfares and accommodation. Interested national canoe federations are being urged to submit their entries by January 26.

The costs of four athletes and one coach from up to 20 countries will be covered by the IKCA.

“We have made all our efforts to hold this very important event in the finest way and try to create the best conditions for all participants to take part in these competitions,” IKCA secretary general, Prashant Kushwaha, said.

“IKCA is organising this event to uplift the standard of Asian continent paddlers.”
