Puerto Princesa is excited to stage the 2027 International Canoe Federation Dragon Boat Club Crew World Championships as it looks to build on the strong foundations laid in 2024.
The Philippine city successfully delivered the ICF Dragon Boat World Championships two years ago, with organisers saying it set a “remarkable standard".
By leveraging the experience, infrastructure, and organisational capacity established in 2024, the Philippine Paddling Federation and its partners are able to advance preparation from a position of strength rather than starting anew.
Len Escollante, President of the Philippine Paddling Federation, highlighted the significance of returning to the same host city.
“The success of the Dragon Boat World Championships 2024 set a remarkable standard,” said Escollante.
“We are determined to ensure that the 2027 edition in the Philippines will be just as successful – if not even more impactful.
“We already have all hands-on deck and have started the backend work to prepare for hosting and to build on the legacy established in 2024.”
Puerto Princesa’s natural setting and strong community engagement were central to the success of the 2024 event, helping create an experience that resonated with athletes, officials, and spectators alike.
In 2027, that same environment will serve as the foundation for further growth.
“We are excited to showcase more of what the Philippines can do, not only in terms of organising a world-class event, but also in advancing the sport’s growth and inspiring communities across the country and beyond,” said Escollante.
With momentum already in place, the 2027 ICF Dragon Boat Club Crew World Championships are positioned not just as a return, but as visible progress for the host nation, as well as the Dragon Boat discipline globally.
“Hosting in 2027 is both an honour and opportunity, and we are committed to making it a celebration of excellence, unity, and the enduring spirit of dragon boat racing.”
