Two Olympic Canoe Sprint medallists have been elected to the European Olympic Committees (EOC) Athletes’ Commission at the 8th European Athletes Forum & Assembly in London.
Ronald Rauhe of Germany will serve as Vice Chair, with Emanuel Silva of Portugal supporting him as a member for a four-year term from 2025 to 2029.
The duo will represent the interests of athletes from across Europe within the EOC.
With a career spanning almost three decades, Rauhe is regarded as one of the best paddlers in the world and was elected as a member of the EOC Athletes’ Commission and the German Olympic Sports Confederation’s Athletes’ Commission in 2023.
The 44-year-old represented Germany at six Olympic Games, winning two golds, one silver, and two bronze medals.
A sixteen-time world champion, Rauhe also holds multiple European crowns and worked as a TV expert for ZDF (Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen) during Paris 2024.
Silva partnered with a fellow great, Fernando Pimenta, to become the first Portuguese Canoe Sprint paddlers to win a medal at the Olympic Games.
