Germany’s Ricarda Funk spoiled France’s medal sweep on home waters at the International Canoe Federation Canoe Slalom Ranking Race in Pau, France, as she secured a gold medal in the women’s kayak final.
Rising French talent Titouan Estanguet impressed by taking gold in the men’s kayak, as France dominated the podium, claiming all but one gold medal on offer.
Martin Cornu and Laurene Roisin topped the podium in the men and women’s canoe events, while both Mathurin Madore and Coline Charel each claimed gold in the men and women’s kayak cross individual.

In the men’s C1 final, Cornu captured gold in 88.70, finishing ahead of compatriot Elouan Debliquy, who finished in 89.58. Czechia’s Martin Kratochvil placed third in 90.00.
Roisin delivered a strong performance in the women’s C1, clocking 97.01 to finish ahead of Andorran Olympian Monica Doria who completed in a time of 98.15. France’s Nina Pesce-Roue took third in exactly 100.00.
France continued its dominance in the men’s K1, where 18-year-old Estanguet won in 83.11. He finished ahead of Mathurin Madore in 84.07, while Mewen Debilquy rounded off the podium in 84.25.

Funk’s victory in the women’s K1 proved the only disruption to French dominance. The German posted a winning time of 93.58, with Charel settling for silver in 94.55 and Spain’s Laia Sorribes taking bronze in 95.06.
Madore added to his medal tally with a gold in the men’s kayak cross individual, finishing in a time of 52.42. France’s Benjamin Renia placed second in 53.05, while Spain’s Manel Contreras claimed bronze in 53.37.
Charel also climbed to the top of the podium in the women’s kayak cross individual, upgrading her earlier silver to gold with a time of 58.17. She finished ahead of Sorribes in 58.17, and Funk in 58.22.
