Chinese Taipei won three of the four available titles at the 2025 Asian Canoe Polo Championships in Malaysia.
They won the gold medal in the men’s, women’s, and U21 men’s categories, while hosts Malaysia came out on top in the U21 women’s final.
The men’s final was a tight contest against Japan, with Chinese Taipei triumphing 3-2 at the Putrajaya Water Sports Complex.
The bronze medal went to Malaysia, who recovered well from their defeat against Japan in the semi-finals. They beat Singapore 2-0 to take the final spot on the podium.
In the women’s final, it was a one-sided affair, with Chinese Taipei clinching gold 6-1 against Singapore. Japan crushed Malaysia 8-1 in the bronze medal game.
Iran, among the top nations on the continent, reached the U21 men’s final but was edged out by Chinese Taipei in a seven-goal thriller. They lost 3-4, with bronze claimed by the hosts, who hammered China 9-3.
It was a tournament to remember for the Malaysians, who finished with a gold and one more bronze.
In the women’s U21 final, they edged Singapore 4-3 to take their first gold medal since making their debut in 2005.
Three medals meant it was Malaysia’s best-ever result in the continental championships.
China, which hosted The World Games Chengdu 2025 in August, showed signs of recovery with impressive performances.
Their best result came in the U21 men’s category, where they finished fourth.
