The board of the International Canoe Federation has approved an updated world anti-doping code, which will come into effect from January 1, 2021.
This new version of the code is the result of a four-year process, with consultation of all stakeholders.
To reflect those changes, the ICF has updated its Anti-Doping rules accordingly. The ICF board approved, on December 3rd 2020, the 2021 ICF Anti-Doping Rules based on the 2021 World Anti-Doping Code.
Those will take effect from January 1st 2021:
- 2021 ICF Anti-Doping rules - taking effect from 1st January 2021
- WADA CODE: Significant Changes between the 2015 and 2021 Code – A document from WADA explaining the significant change in their new version of the World Anti-Doping Code
- ICF specificities in 2021 Anti-Doping Rules – The highlight of the rules that are specific to the ICF
The ICF would like to remind the national federations that they must comply with these rules and incorporate them in their own rules and/or other governing documents, as stated in article 18 of the ICF Anti-Doping Rules:
18.1. All national federations and their members shall comply with the code, international standards, and these anti-doping rules. All national federations and other members shall include in their policies, rules and programs the provisions necessary to ensure that the ICF may enforce these anti-doping rules (including carrying out testing) directly in respect of athletes (including national-level athletes) and other persons under their antidoping authority as specified in the Introduction to these anti-doping rules (section “scope of these anti-doping rules”).
18.2 Each national federation shall incorporate these anti-doping rules either directly or by reference into its governing documents, constitution and/or rules as part of the rules of sport that bind their members so that the national federation may enforce them itself directly in respect of athletes (including national-level athletes) and other persons under its anti-doping authority.
