2016 ICF Canoe Marathon World Cup 2 is set for Prado Vila Verde, Portugal

With over 200 athletes from 22 nations ready to race down the spectacular course in the north west of Portugal on the Càvado River the action is likely to be as hot as the sweltering weather.

The event boasts a high caliber of competitors with over 80 per cent of the line-up contesting the 2015 ICF Canoe Marathon World Championships in Szeged, Hungary late last year.
 
The racing starts today (29th July) with the short course events and moves onto the traditional marathon distances over the weekend.
