Registration still open for World Championships
The Host Organising Committee of the 2024 ICF SUP World Championships is working hard to prepare everything for the most important event of the discipline in mid-November. The course maps and the schedule has been finalised and the second bulletin will be published in September with further useful information. The entry is still open, athletes are welcome to register for the most exciting SUP event of the season. The most thrilling news is that the sprint race will be over 100m, so athletes can showcase their true sprint skills. Negotiations are also underway to add Special Olympics SUP races to the programme.
Abu Dhabi site visit
While we are still two months away from this year’s World Championships, the preparation for 2025 has already started. Together with the Emirates Canoe and Rafting Federation, a site visit was carried out in Abu Dhabi which will host the 2025 ICF SUP World Championships. The city can be easily accessed from Europe and Asia and provides a calm channel for the races and nice weather in October where the event is planned to take place. The first bulletin is due to be issued by the end of this year.
SUP combine with other disciplines
The inaugural ECA SUP European Championships took place in June. It was the first time that ECA organised a joint European Championships with three disciplines as SUP races were held alongside Canoe Sprint and Paracanoe competitions. Junior, senior and masters athletes competed in four SUP events (sprint, technical, long distance and inflatable race). The goal is to organise Continental Championships in SUP across all continents in the upcoming years.
Greece ready for ranking race
The last SUP World Ranking event before the World Championships will be organised in Agios Nikolaos, Greece from September 27 to 29. The World Cup will be the last chance for athletes to assess their preparedness and collect valuable points for the rankings. The organisers provide board rental and discounts on accommodation and ferry from the mainland Greece.
