Technical Officials and Talented Athletes
The month of November was very important for the Confederation of African Canoeing (CAC), with a number of significant technical, competitive, and institutional events.
Firstly, there was the conduct of the International Technical Officials (ITOs) examination, which was participated in by candidates from Somalia, Kenya, Angola, Nigeria, Mozambique, and Togo. This was one of the activities aimed at building the technical skills of African technical officials.
Secondly, there was the African Canoe Sprint Championships. The event saw the involvement of 14 National Federations (NFs). This championship is one of the significant continental events that give the Africans the chance to take part in high-level racing.

Elective Congress
After the championships, the CAC Congress was held. During this Congress, voting took place, leading to the elections of CAC Executive Board members.
- President: Mr Joao Manuel DaCosta Alegre (Sao Tome and Principe)
- 1st Vice President: Hon. Said Mohamed Mahmoud (Somalia)
- 2nd Vice President: Gen. Ahmed Kamil (Egypt)
- 3rd Vice President: Madam Ola (Nigeria)
- 4th Vice President: Mr. Kamal Sulley (Ghana)
- Secretary General: Mr. Ahmed Mahmoud Abdoulkader (Djibouti)
Competition Calendar Confirmed
It was attributed by the Congress that the 2027 African Canoe Cup will be organised by Tunisia. The African canoeing events calendar for 2026 was also determined as follows:
- January 30-31, 2026: African Canoe Slalom Championships in Underberg, South Africa
- September 2026: African Canoe Sprint Championships in Algiers, Algeria
Finally, Canoe Sprint at the African Youth Games took place from December 12 to 13. The race saw participation by a total of seven National Olympic Committees, comprising six events that provided a chance for African youths to gain some international racing experience.
